The revolt of the inhabitants of a hundred homes in two buildings, Boulevard de l'Europe in Vandoeuvre. Where a resident died on November 9 during a fire on the ground floor. Since the tragedy, a petition has circulated to denounce everything that is wrong in these buildings, and in particular the heating, which does not work for many residents. A meeting takes place this Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.at the town hall to discuss it with the mayor and the social landlord 3F .

The tragedy exacerbated the anger of several residents who decided to take actionstarting with Muriel and her son Yann. “Have you ever seen double-glazed windows installed like this?“, she asks, noting cold air through the wallpaper, or even a faulty VMC. “No one was compensated for their EDF consumption because we lent additional heating“, she regrets, while, in fact, the charges have increased because of this equipment, to the tune of 41 euros for this resident, happy to live there for 30 years, but who saw the heating break down for the first time this fall.

The latter returned following an audit commissioned last week by 3F. Except that this month, the death of a ground floor resident in a fire has awakened all the resentments that have been weighing on us for several years: between heating, doubts about the standards of smoke detectors or fire extinguishers, and even squatting problems. “The smoke detectors started to expire. We took them out and saw that they were not battery-powered but battery-powered, contrary to what we were told, but what's more, they had expired since September“, says Yann.

Situation discussed at town hall

All these points will therefore be discussed this Tuesday evening, in town hall, around the table of elected official Manu Donati, residents and the social landlord. “The problem must be resolved as quickly as possible. When you have children or the elderly, heating is essential. I understand that people are angry, and we will do everything to help them. And I'm sure 3F will get off his butt, as they commonly say“, explains the mayor.

Work on site

And this last daring expression, 3F actually seems to have taken it on board. Concerning heating, the main subject of the petition, 3F Grand Est claims to have carried out structural work to clear the network, which represents the bulk of the problem currently. In addition to the installation of a substation in September. Enough to regulate the heating for all of the 108 homes affected according to the lessor, even if 5 are still under surveillance.

A complete audit is underway, again this week for one of the two buildings, with thermal cameras, to try to identify the slightest heat leak. And additional thermal renovation work is planned for early 2025, focusing on joinery, windows, shutters and landing doors. All that remains is to compensate tenants whose bills have skyrocketed. 3F promises a regularization of charges in January accompanied by a commercial proposal for the increase in invoices. 3F Grand Est finally deplores the fatal fire of November 9 by providing support to the victim's loved ones. And makes himself available to the investigation to find out the origin of the tragedy.
