Unfortunately, neither of the two Tunisian films “Nawar Achiya” by Khedija Lemkacher (International Competition) and “El Qantara” (The Bridge) by Walid Mattar (Horizons of Arab Cinema) is on the list.
Palestine was in the spotlight at the 45th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (Ciff), which took place from November 13 to 22, 2024.
The dabka was there both at the opening and closing ceremonies. Palestine was also on the list. But it is the Egyptian film “Dakhal Al-Rabie Yadhak” (spring comes smiling) which takes the lion’s share with four prizes: International Critics Jury Prize (Fipress) in the Horizons Competition of Arab cinema, prize for “Best artistic contribution” in the official competition, Henry Barakat prize, as well as the Salah Abou-Seif Prize for “Best artistic contribution” tick”, granted to its director Noha Adel.
Prizes that this original work well deserves. Unfortunately, neither of the two Tunisian films “Nawar Achiya” by Khedija Lemkacher (International Competition) and “El Qantara” (The Bridge) by Walid Mattar (Horizons of Arab Cinema) is on the list.
