The Victoriaville Tigres suffered two losses this weekend in front of their fans at the Colisée Desjardins, bringing the number of consecutive defeats our team has suffered in recent weeks to four.
Our Felins began this short week of matches at home.
They first received the Océanic from Rimouski, which they had already encountered a few days before at the bottom of the river.
This visit was eagerly awaited by several fans who were awaiting the coveted return of their former #5, Pier-Olivier Roy, who was making his first return home since his trade earlier this year. He was also entitled to a nice tribute organized by his former team at the start of the match.
After suffering a defeat against their opponents five days earlier, we wondered if the Tigers were going to get back on track and show what they are capable of at the Océanic.
The match went smoothly, with very few penalties on both sides.
The Océanic managed to score three times in the 60 minutes of play while the Tigres struggled to catch up. It was Thomas Gagnon and Justin Gendron who scored for the Félins, sealing the final score 3 to 2 in favor of Rimouski.
Victor vs. Acadia-Bathurst
Saturday afternoon, the Felins hosted, this time, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan during the traditional doggie match for the benefit of the Tree of Life.
Tough, tough match for the Tigers; a fierce, physical and frustrating game which took its toll on the players’ minds during the game.
Certain voices, especially those of the fans, were raised many times during the match during decisions deemed “unfair” taken by the referees on the punishments to be given, in particular; punishments which never stopped being hissed elsewhere.
It was Alexis Bourque who scored the first goal for the Tigres and as tradition dictates, the ice was filled with hundreds of stuffed toys thrown by the fans. All these soft toys are intended for children in need and will be given to them as Christmas gifts.
Justin Larose will also score to complete the Tigers’ point streak for this game.
The final score was 7 to 2 in favor of the Titan.
