A sixty-year-old dies in the explosion of her building in the historic center of La Rochelle

An explosion, followed by a fire, devastated a five-story building, located in the historic center of La Rochelle, on Monday evening, November 25. A 63-year-old woman has died. She lived on the third floor, the floor of which collapsed, reports France Bleu La Rochelle. The explosion rang out shortly before 7 p.m. A fire quickly spread to the roof.

Residents of neighboring buildings were evacuated because the buildings were damaged in this old neighborhood located on rue du Cordouan next to the covered market. The reasons for the explosion are not yet known. Some 45 firefighters were mobilized on site.
