A double tragedy struck an American family this weekend. Despaired by the absence of his daughter, a father who set out to search for her died after falling from a roof on November 24, 2024. It appears that he jumped on purpose.
An unbearable double punishment for the family. The father of a missing young woman died after falling from the roof of a parking garage in Los Angeles, reports NBC. The 50-year-old had been looking for his daughter for 13 days, in vain, and allegedly killed himself out of despair.
Disturbing disappearance
The young woman, Hannah, disappeared on November 8. She had just missed a flight in Los Angeles, which was supposed to take her back to New York, where her family lives. The latter, not seeing the thirty-year-old arriving, contacted the police and associations helping relatives of missing people, to no avail.
Three days later, they finally received a message from Hannah, who explained that she was the victim of a attempted identity theft. Then nothing more. This is why her father, Ryan, decided to go to Los Angeles himself to find his daughter.
13 days of research
For thirteen days, the father scoured the places Hannah frequented on the west coast, contacted her friends, searched the young woman's belongings, without being able to find her.
On Sunday, he was found below a parking lot, several meters high. According to local authorities, the father killed himself: “After tirelessly searching throughout Los Angeles for 13 days, Hannah's father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically took his own life. This loss greatly compounded the family's suffering,” quote our colleagues across the Atlantic.
