Emirati authorities announced Monday that the three suspects in the murder of an Israeli-Moldovan rabbi are of Uzbek nationality. The victim was an emissary of Chabad Lubavitch, an ultra-Orthodox Hasidic movement with global missionary involvement. His remains were repatriated to Israel.
The investigation into the murder of the Israeli-Moldovan rabbi in the United Arab Emirates is progressing. The authorities announced on Monday, November 25, that the alleged murderers were of Uzbek nationality, reported the official WAM agency.
“The competent authorities of the security services revealed the identities of the three people who carried out the murder and who are of Uzbek nationality: Olimbay Tohirovich (28 years old), Makhmudjon Abdurakhim (28 years old) and Azizbek Kamilovich (33 years old),” WAM wrote, citing a press release from the Interior Ministry.
Authorities in the predominantly Muslim Gulf country said on Sunday that three suspects had been arrested after the murder of the 28-year-old rabbi.
His remains arrived in Israel where the funeral is planned for the evening. According to Chabad Lubavitch, the ultra-orthodox Hasidic movement, they will take place on the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem, a sector of the Holy City occupied and annexed by Israel since 1967.
