A major fire broke out in a commercial area in Anse, in a town in the north of the Rhône. 80 firefighters are on site. The fire was brought under control shortly before 4 p.m.
A major fire broke out shortly after 1:30 p.m. in a commercial area of Anse, a town in the north of the Rhône department. 80 firefighters and 32 engines are on site to contain the fire which has already spread to an area of more than 2000 m2.
According to our colleagues at Le Progrès, the fire started in an indoor sports area before spreading to other stores in this Saint-Romain shopping area.
The large plume of smoke was visible from the road and the A6 motorway which passes right next to the scene of the fire. It is currently unknown whether or not the fire caused any casualties.
The fire was brought under control shortly before 4 p.m. A blatant investigation has been opened. Firefighters are expected to remain on scene throughout the evening.
