Angers takes a radical measure

It is this Monday, November 25, that the Municipal Council of the city of Angers (49) will ratify the decision to call on the services of an automatic license plate reading vehicle from next January to fight against parking “fraud”.

The purchase by municipalities in France of vehicles equipped with an automatic license plate reading system is a real snowball effect. From next January, and after Nantes recently, it is the Angevin city which will have a copy, as confirmed by the City's security and prevention assistant, comments reported by our colleagues from West France: “We are going to have a car that will read license plates in paid parking.”

This Lapi car, also called a PV sulphator and which has caused quite a bit of ink to flow in recent days, will thus control vehicles parked in on-street parking spaces in the streets of Angers. A vehicle supposed to facilitate the work of agents and… make the city's finances more easily inflate, by flushing out vehicles overpaying or failing to pay for parking on the fly. Ouest-France also indicates that this vehicle should make it possible to limit attacks by public highway surveillance agents responsible for fines, who will be reassigned to other missions, particularly security.
