This Saturday around 6 p.m., a man lost his life following a road accident in Aiguillon (Lot-et-Garonne). The shock was extremely violent. The driver ended his trip into a gas box, causing a pipe to rupture. Firefighters took several hours to control the flames, reports the site Actu.fr.
The circumstances of the accident are still unclear. The motorist lost control of his vehicle on departmental road 642, near the place called Miailles. The latter hit a telephone pole, then an electrical pole before crashing into a gas pipe. The deputy mayor, who visited the site, spoke of flames six meters high.
Pipe break deprives residents of gas
Around twenty firefighters responded to the scene. For safety, they established a security perimeter of 650 meters around the fire. Around 10 p.m., after coming to grips with the disaster, the emergency services could only note the death of the driver.
This dramatic accident led to a gas outage for many homes in Aiguillon and neighboring towns. GRDF agents were deployed to quickly restore the situation. During the time of repairs, gas tanks from Pau and Toulouse ensured the supply.
