Former player and current manager of the club, Florent Feyt looks back on the heavy defeat conceded this Sunday by Stade Marivalois in Rodez.
By going this Sunday afternoon to the field of a Rodez team which is considered the ogre of the group, the Marivalois knew that they would be faced with a major challenge. Faced with a Ruthenian team which plays in another championship (that of the very top of the table) and which produced a real offensive festival, the “Rouge et Jaune”, who nevertheless never gave up, suffered a heavy defeat 74 to 10. Florent Feyt, former Stade Marivalois player, long-time senior women's coach and current manager of the club, gives us his impressions after this meeting.
“The score of the match against Rodez can be misleading because our players didn't really give up during the game. They were simply upgraded. Each individual error was paid for in cash. It's hard for the team which fought until the end and which is aware of its limits against such an opponent. It must be said that she did not come in the best conditions. Many absences have weakened our two formations and in particular our reserve. This match was not in our championship. Ours is at the bottom of the table with four or five clubs.
Yesterday's results are not in our favor: a small hole is made in the ranking. But there is nothing definitive. We have to tick off the matches at home and win them as we did against Saint-Astier and Levézou (and as we should have concluded against Le Bugue). Every point taken or lost will be important in this battle.
In two weeks the return matches begin. We will go to Bressols and we have revenge to take against ourselves because we were non-existent in the first leg. This should be motivation for a burst of pride. I hope. »
