Benny Gantz incites Netanyahu to bomb the headquarters of government institutions in Beirut

AA / Jerusalem /Khaled Yousef

Israeli opposition leader Benny Gantz called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government on Sunday to bomb the headquarters of government institutions in Beirut, amid deadly attacks on Lebanon.

In a message posted on X, Gantz urged the government to target the headquarters of Lebanese government institutions, which have so far been spared the Israeli-led bombing campaign.

The Israeli military has launched near-daily airstrikes across Lebanon since late September, targeting what it claims are Hezbollah targets, in an escalation in the war between Tel Aviv and the group. Lebanese since the start of the Israeli genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.

Avi Ashkenazi, a military analyst for the Maariv newspaper, suggested in an article published on Sunday that the Lebanese Parliament building could be a potential target for the Israeli army.

“The seat of Parliament is a political infrastructure used by Hezbollah and could serve as a refuge for its members,” Avi Ashkenazi said.

He also suggested that the Israeli military might consider bombing other targets, such as destroying 10 to 20 more buildings in Beirut's southern suburbs, to ensure its dominance in the region.

According to Lebanese health authorities, more than 3,700 people have been killed by Israeli attacks in Lebanon, more than 15,600 have been injured and more than a million have been displaced since October last year.

On October 1 this year, Tel Aviv widened the conflict by launching a ground attack in southern Lebanon.
