Four games were on the schedule for the Desjardins Est-du-Québec Senior Hockey League this weekend. While Trois-Pistoles won for the first time, Mont-Joli suffered a first setback.
Saturday evening in Les Basques, the BA Foundations defeated the Bar Laser de Causapscal by a score of 2-1. Sylvain Dubé and Charles Bélanger, midway through the third period, gave the locals a 2-0 lead. Patrick Tremblay reduced the gap, but the attempt to come back stopped there.
In front of the net, Charles-Olivier Lévesque won his duel against Vincent Morin. He pushed 22 of 23 pucks back in his direction while his opposite number gave up twice on 44 shots.
Excavations Léon Chouinard
In Matane on Friday evening, the Excavations Léon Chouinard of Mont-Joli suffered a first setback after three victories, losing 7-2 to the Castors Côté Automobiles. Karel Pelletier and Pierre-Alexandre Boulet have the goals for the team led by Mike Abud.

“We were not opportunistic, we allowed too many breakaways and we committed too many turnovers. And our numerical advantage is 0 for 7. But, Matane has a very good club which was complete on Friday. Anthony Forest is a real hockey player,” said the head coach.
He highlights the excellent work of his goalkeeper, Olivier Gauthier. “Despite the score, he made big saves. It could have been worse than that,” he said.
Mont-Joli was missing four defenders and Jean-Simon Turbide played very little due to poor conduct and an injury. There should be a little reinforcement next Sunday, when Matane also shows up at the Amphithéâtre Desjardins.
“It won’t be the same game. We are capable of playing them,” assures Abud.
The Vikings lose again
Saturday night in Chandler, the Vikings took a 2-0 lead before seeing Matane score the next five goals to win 5-2.
Friday evening, the Vikings lost 4-2 in Rivière-au-Renard against the Corsairs of Forillon.
While the Castors Côté Automobiles remain undefeated (4-0 record), the Vikings have still not won with five defeats in as many games, including one in overtime.
Future
Four games are on the schedule for the end of next week. The BA Foundations will take the road to Gaspésie to play in Rivière-au-Renard, Saturday evening, and Chandler, Sunday afternoon.
Also on Saturday, Matane will visit Causapscal before arriving in Mont-Joli on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
