The arrival of the fiery Jorge Sampaoli on the bench has not yet had the desired effect: shaking up a group which was dragging its malaise under the leadership of Julien Stéphan.
With his white cap screwed on his head, the Argentinian spent most of the match shouting, pacing back and forth in front of his technical area, replacing, encouraging or lecturing his players. In vain. With this third setback in a row in Ligue 1, Stade Rennais is in fourteenth place (11 pts) and is now dangerously approaching the relegation zone.
Stade Rennais harmless
In the Villeneuve-d'Ascq enclosure, almost full for the 80th anniversary of the northern club, the Rennais offered almost nothing, to the point where they did not obtain the slightest clear scoring opportunity (4 shots, 1 frame). Bruno Genesio's players were not much more exciting, but played with great mastery, respecting their coach's primary wish: not to let themselves be dispersed by the celebrations surrounding the match.
Just before half-time, the Losc players forced the lock of the Breton club, which had the merit of being rather well in place throughout the match, after a magnificent collective action at the end of which Zhegrova found the fault (45th).
Losc then managed its advantage, and Bruno Genesio his group, before leaving for Bologna with the objective of qualifying for the round of 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday. For Rennes, the reception of Saint-Étienne on the next day will be crucial in trying to move up the rankings.
