La Découverte high school in Decazeville has just been awarded a 2nd consecutive national prize
After winning the national Imagin'Action prize last year with the “four-blade boomerang”, made at the plastics-composites workshop and which is sold as far as Australia, the La Découverte high school, in Decazeville, is once again at the top of the poster. In fact, he has just been awarded this same Imagin'Action Amopa-Afdet 2024 prize for a metal kiosk, designed in the boilermaking workshop.
This project comes from the public agricultural high school Beauregard in Villefranche-de-Rouergue. Professional baccalaureate students worked on this masterpiece, accompanied by workshop teachers Bruno Camboulas and Dominique Alric. These young people are now in BTS in boilermaking.
The students explained their design approach and the different stages of manufacturing, from the first studies while respecting the specifications until the final production.
The young people left nothing to chance, even producing detailed assembly instructions for the company which was to assemble the kiosk on site. The young people enjoyed carrying out this project, “allowing them to better understand the different facets of the profession, with an opening to the outside world”.
Robert Garrigues and Claudette Rey, on behalf of Amopa (Association of members of the Order of Academic Palms) and Simon Bressoles and Jean-Louis Schlosser, for Afdet (French Association for the Development of Technical Education), presented the certificates of achievement, the diploma, the trophy of excellence and financial aid of 400 euros for the high school.
A global project
The organizers of the prize found this project very successful and comprehensive: “Your masterpiece has a soul and you went to the client with constraints to resolve, which you will do later in business”. The principal Jean-Luc Viargues thanked the Occitanie region which supported the establishment for this achievement.
MP Laurent Alexandre highlighted the opportunity offered by the jobs offered to young people by the high school: “The field of possibilities is wide open to you”. Departmental councilor Christian Tieulié is pleased that La Découverte high school is continuing its path to excellence “and there are numerous job offers in boilermaking in our area”.
