The residents of Sallèles mobilized strongly this Saturday, November 23 and lined up behind their mayor.
The Sallélois give discharge to their mayor Yves Bastié to disengage their municipality from the single-purpose intercommunal union with 604 votes in favor, against 424 against the project. The population mobilized en masse for this citizen consultation desired by the mayor to establish his will with 1,054 voters.
The issue is the exit of their commune from Sivu, the single-purpose intercommunal union of South Minervois and the Intercommunal Center for Social Action, Cias, notably ensuring the management of the nursing home and school catering.
The mayor of Sallèles and his elected officials consider the bill too high compared to Sivu’s investment in their village. For its part, the municipal opposition is asking the municipality to take part of this charge into its main budget, instead of passing it on exclusively to taxes.
This result is only a stage and does not yet augur the final exit, as the administrative procedure which is now opening is long. This is therefore a new page in the series that began several months ago. Opposition and municipal majority having distributed numerous leaflets to rally residents to their cause.
