The Rouge et Or of University wins the 12th Vanier Cup in its history

The University Rouge et Or won the 12th Vanier Cup in its history this Saturday by beating the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks. A victory at the end of the suspense… It’s their second Vanier Cup in three years!

University football fans were treated to a great spectacle this Saturday afternoon at the Richardson Stadium in Kingston, Ontario, as part of the 59th Vanier Cup.

In the first half, it was Felipe Forteza from Rouge et Or who stood out the most.

He stood out in particular for his field goal kicks.

Felipe Forteza looked unstoppable.

Meanwhile, the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks were able to count on a great breakthrough from Ryan Hughes to stay in the game.

However, number 38 from Laval University was on fire in the first half and allowed his team to widen the gap.

He even tied the record for field goals in a U SPORTS championship game just before halftime.

Trailing 17-17 at the break, the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks tried everything to get back into the game during the second period.

Jaxon Stebbings’ spectacular touchdown put them back in the saddle.

Dawson Hodge’s field goal kept the Golden Hawks believing.

While the end of the match was stifling, Felipe Forteza gave the Rouge et Or some fresh air with a sixth field goal.

He took the opportunity to set the record for field goals in a U SPORTS championship final.

Laval University finally won the Vanier Cup with a score of 22 to 17.

Arnaud Desjardins and Felipe Forteza were named players of the match.
