Three words that are enough to express the singer's pain. British artist Zayn Malik, former member of One Direction, paid tribute to Liam Payne during his concert organized in Leeds (United Kingdom) this Saturday, November 23.
A message was broadcast on the giant screen, on a blue background, on which one could read “Love you bro”, “I love you, my brother”. Above it, Liam Payne's name, years of birth and death were written, along with a pink heart. The image was widely shared on social media.
Zayn Malik was one of five members of the British boy band formed in 2010 during the show “X Factor” across the Channel. With Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, he enjoyed dazzling success in the early 2010s around the world. In France, the five young boys filled the Stade de France two nights in a row in 2014.
After the group disbanded in 2015, each member embarked on solo careers. Fans regularly dreamed of a reunion, but the dream was shattered on October 16 with the announcement of the sudden death of Liam Payne, 31.
The singer, who had not hidden his difficulties with alcohol and drugs, fell to his death from the 3rd floor of the hotel where he was in Buenos Aires (Argentina). Medical tests revealed that he had taken alcohol, benzodiazepines and pink cocaine at the time of his death. Liam Payne was buried this Wednesday in Amersham, northwest of London, in the presence of his family, loved ones, and the four other members of One Direction.
Zayn Malik had thus announced the postponement of two dates of his tour, which was to start on November 20 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He had also already announced the postponement of his American tour, planned between October and November, due to the death of Liam Payne. The dates have been postponed to January 2025.
