Five fishing boats sank in the port of Grande-Entrée after being engulfed in flames early Sunday morning.
The municipality’s fire services director, Simon Mary, indicates that the fire is now extinguished, but that his team is now working to limit the environmental consequences of the event, in collaboration with the Coast Guard and Environment Canada.
Mr. Mary said that no one was injured, but that in addition to the loss of the five fishing boats, part of the quay suffered serious damage.
The fire is believed to have broken out in one boat before spreading to the other four boats, particularly due to strong winds.
