The Energy Mediator's online comparator presents, without any commercial interest, all the permanent or promotional offers to which customers can subscribe, according to their needs and the configuration of their home. At the moment, the average French household, which is made up of two adults and two children and consumes on average 4,000 kWh per year, while benefiting from the regulated electricity rate, pays 1,159 euros. Simply by changing supplier, this typical family could save almost 300 euros. Ohm Énergie is offering a temporary promotion at 878 euros, and with the price per kWh set by La Belle Énergie, the bill drops to 914 euros.

“The difference has never been so high between the regulated tariff and the prices of alternative suppliers,” notes Aurian de Maupeou, founder of Selectra which also offers a price comparator and has launched a group purchase of electricity at the best price. “The readjustment of the TR is done staggered since it is fixed on the average of the last two years. Alternative offers are more responsive. But this price gap will not last with the increase in the TR planned for February 1st. With the increase in the electricity tax, other suppliers will also have to revise their offers. But we will still find prices up to 15% cheaper. »
EDF renews itself
With a kWh costing almost 26 cents, the regulated rate is in competition with its own operator, notes the expert: “EDF itself has developed offers that are often more interesting for consumers. With Vert Auto for example, customers benefit from -50% on the price of kWh during certain hours to recharge their electric vehicle. »
The real success of this year 2024 is also found at EDF. The price of electricity with the “Tempo” offer is particularly advantageous 343 days per year (640% compared to the regulated rate) but 22 days, timed to winter consumption peaks, are red. “It is better to have additional heating such as a stove or fireplace” warns Aurian de Maupéou. “The dynamics are very favorable for this option which allows you to reduce your annual bill by around 35%. It's clever. Other suppliers need to get involved. »
Some have tried, without ever matching the historic operator. With Modulo, Ohm Énergie offers the lowest kWh price (around 9 euro cents including tax), for fifteen days a year. And Octopus also focused on electric vehicle owners with off-peak hours half the price of peak hours.
