Electrical fire brought under control in a college near : no injuries reported

Electrical fire in kitchen triggers rapid evacuation

This Friday afternoon, around 4 p.m., a fire alarm went off at the Alain Jacques college inAilly-le-Haut-Clochernear in the Somme. The cause? A start of electrical disaster located in the kitchens of a brand new establishment.

The alarms immediately caused the fire doors to close, thus guaranteeing the safety of the premises. As the first smoke was felt, the approximately 300 students and adults present in the establishment were evacuated in a few minutes to the exterior courtyard, in accordance with the security protocols in force.

Express intervention by firefighters: an effective system

Emergency services quickly responded to the emergency call. In all, four fire engines were deployed to manage this event. Arriving on site shortly after the report, firefighters quickly took control of the situation.

Despite the intervention of substantial resources, the fire was contained in a short time and the damage was minimal, limited to the kitchen installations. The rest of the college's infrastructure was not affected, allowing a rapid resumption of indoor activities.

Resumption of classes and maintenance of a ceremony

After the fire was extinguished, the students were able to return to their classrooms at 4:40 p.m. to resume their day in a calm and reassuring atmosphere. Classes ended normally, at 5 p.m., before the start of the weekend.

Another symbolic moment of the evening, the patent graduation ceremonyinitially planned for this date, was maintained without a hitch. School life, barely disrupted, has therefore resumed its course.

Clear communication to reassure parents

For families affected by temporary suspension of the canteenthe management of the establishment took care to inform parents via the ENT (digital working environment). A decision on the reopening of catering services will be imminent at the beginning of next week.

More fear than harm: a reassuring result

This incident could have had more serious consequences, but thanks to the speed of emergency response and the rigor of security protocols, no injuries was not to be deplored. The material damage remains confined to a small area, reassuring students, parents and educational staff at the dawn of a return to normal.
