the relaunch match for LOU against Clermont

The LOU team will face ASM Clermont this Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Matmut Stadium in Gerland, as part of the 10th day of the championship.

After almost a month of absence, the Rouge et Noir returned to their Gerland pitch. Currently in 10th place, with three consecutive defeats, Fabien Gengenbacher's men will have to show aggression to hope to win this match and get closer to the top 6.

“There was a lot of disappointment and frustration after the last few matches. We are not where we would have liked to be”adds Félix Lambey, second row.

“An experience that must be useful”

Having already gone through a difficult period last season, the group proved that it could get back up and seek victories in complicated situations.

“We have arrived at a pivotal moment in the season, where we cannot afford to lose,” insists Felix Lambey.

For this match, LOU Rugby will have to do without Léo Berdeu, reservist with the XV of . The League having refused to release him to play in TOP 14 this Saturday, he will remain in the stands.

And that's not all: will also have to cope without eight other players who have left for the national team. “We are in a phase of duplicates. The internationals are not there, and we also have four injured. This places us in a zone of tension, particularly in positions where these absences accumulate”explains coach Fabien Gengenbacher.

On the other hand, this match will mark the first start of the season for hooker Yanis Charcosset. On the comeback side, Gomes Sa and Lavanini should also make their reappearance after their injuries.

If Clermont is still looking for a first away victory this season, LOU expects “a big match” to hope to get back on track.

Kick-off this Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on Canal+.
