Understaffed and lacking ammunition, the Ukrainian army is limiting the advance of Russian forces in the east and northeast of the country and is currently preventing them from seizing important cities.
The first snows fall on Ukraine, and with them sets in the third winter of war since the Russian invasion of February 24, 2022. Monday, November 18, Volodymyr Zelensky visited Kramatorsk, Koupiansk and Pokrovsk, three cities targeted by Moscow. “The fighting is very hard, 24 hours a day, but we are holding on even though we lack ammunition, assures a source close to the Ukrainian presidency. We need everything, including artillery and anti-aircraft defense.”

On Wednesday, Russia claimed the capture of Illinka, in the Donetsk region. A village of around a thousand inhabitants before the war, probably empty today. The real target in this sector is the town of Kurakhové, which Moscow's soldiers are trying to capture by advancing from the north and the south.
