This “very organized” group was active in a sensitive area of the commune. Eight individuals, sometimes legally repeat offenders, were arrested and referred. 57 kilos of cannabis, seven kilos of cocaine and weapons of war were seized.

This is a serious blow to drug trafficking in Bouches-du-Rhône, where numerous criminal gangs operate and extend their control over the local population. As reported in Figaro According to police and judicial sources, one of these gangs was hit hard and dismantled at the beginning of the week by the police. Eight alleged members of this group “very organized” were presented to court this Friday.

The members of the gang had been operating for several months in , in the heart of the Notre-Dame des Marins city. This large complex of sensitive habitats housed the drug sales point of the criminal group, which took advantage of an urban context «difficile» to serve and deliver up to 100 customers per day with cannabis and cocaine.

Following an investigation by the Aix-en-Provence public prosecutor's office, the narcotics brigade of the Territorial Crime Division (DCT) set about dismantling the network in the space of a few weeks. The investigators notably managed to locate the drug storage locations and identify the heads of this network capable of bringing in “between 12,000 and 15,000 euros per day”.

Weapons of war

This vast operation ended on Tuesday with the arrest of suspected members of the drug network, including the manager of the point of sale, the supply person and even the nanny. DCT police officers also managed to get their hands on large quantities of narcotics: 26 kilos of cannabis herb, 31 kilos of cannabis resin and seven kilos of cocaine. The gang, armed to the teeth, also hid a submachine gun, an automatic pistol and around a hundred rounds of ammunition.

The eight suspected members arrested were all placed in police custody. All were brought this Friday before the criminal court to be tried for acts of “transport, possession, unauthorized offer or transfer and acquisition of narcotics”, “criminal association” and “unauthorized possession of weapons” .
