Algeria: The euro and the dollar soar on the black market

The euro continues its rise against the Algerian dinar Thursday, November 21 on the black currency market. It still makes some gains compared to the previous day's quotation.

Indeed, the reference note of 100 euros is now worth between 25,850 DA and 25,900 DA on sale. Regarding the purchase, the 100 euro bill is taken back by currency traders for a sum ranging from 25,650 DA to 25,700 DA.

On Wednesday, the price on the black market was 100 euros, worth between 25,750 DA and 25,800 DA for sale and a little less for purchase.

As a reminder, on October 17, the exchange rate was 100 euros for 24,000 DA for purchases and 100 euros for 24,800 DA in the best case.

In addition, the US dollar experienced a historic rise against the dinar on the black currency market. In fact, it reached the threshold of 100 USD dollars for the first time against 24,400 DA at sale. For the purchase, the parallel exchange rate is 100 dollars for 24,200 DA.

The British pound also recorded a historic surge this Thursday, November 21 on the black currency market. It crossed the symbolic bar of 300 dinars for the first time. In fact, 100 pounds are exchanged for 30,600 DA for sale and 30,300 DA for purchase.

This surge in currencies on the black currency market, also known as the parallel market, can be explained, according to a currency trader active on Facebook, by the increase in demand for the euro on the black market. An increase which mechanically results in an increase in the exchange rate.
