It's official: the TCL subscription for 26-64 year olds will increase again on January 1, 2025 in Lyon. At a price of €57.50 in 2015, it will soon be €74.10, a difference of €16.60 in 10 years.

But were the most significant increases voted for during the Collomb (PS) years, whose political allies were at the head of Sytral between 2001 and 2020, or since the Bruno Bernard (EELV) era, which combines mandates as president of the Métropole de Lyon and Sytral for four years?

Larger increases from 2015

To give you an idea, between 2004 and 2014, the annual subscription for 26-64 year olds, formerly called “City Pass”, increased by €11.60, from €43.40 to €55. The single ticket only cost 20 cents.

But the rhythm has intensified between 2015 and 2020:

2015: €57.50 City Pass, €1.80 unit ticket

2016: €58.90 City Pass, €1.80 unit ticket

2017: €60.10 City Pass, 1.80 unit ticket

2018: €60.50 City Pass, 1.90 unit ticket

2019: €64 City Pass, 1.90 unit ticket

2020: €65 City Pass, 1.90 unit ticket

Freezing of price increases in 2021, then €6.20 more in three years

Having arrived at the head of Sytral (but also at the head of the Metropolis and the City of Lyon) in 2020, the environmentalists made a rather remarkable entrance.

In the midst of a health crisis, they voted to freeze price increases for 2021, free transport for the most deprived and a reduction in the subscription for 18-25 year olds, from €32.5 to €25.

But several increases, which Bruno Bernard has always said “assume”, have fallen from 2022:

2022: €66.40 subscription 26-64, €1.90 unit ticket

2023: €69.40 subscription 26-64, €2 unit ticket

2024: €72.60 subscription 26-64, €2 unit ticket

“This is what makes our network strong”

“Every year, for 20 years, we have increased prices in the Lyon Metropolis. This is what makes our network strong and this is what allows us to have the best network in , outside the region, and to continue to improve it,” he declared. during a recent interview.

In addition to allowing investments and an increase in resources, Sytral has notably justified the increases in recent years by inflation, causing “additional operating costs for the networks and managed services”.
