New deadly day on the front of the war in Israel and Hzebollah. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Thursday, November 21, that strikes by the Israeli army had left more than fifty dead in the country. In the south, 12 people were killed by raids. In separate press releases, the Ministry of Health reports “seven dead and 24 injured (by) Israeli enemy strikes” on the region of Nabatiyeh (south) and “five dead and 26 injured” in other places in southern Lebanon.
The ministry also announced Thursday evening that 40 people had been killed by Israeli strikes on the Bekaa Valley, in the east of the country, after providing an initial toll of 22 dead. “The strikes by the Israeli enemy which targeted the Baalbek region (left) 40 dead and 52 injured”he said in a press release, reporting victims in ten different locations.
The Israeli army says it attacked Hezbollah command centers and infrastructure. These raids were preceded by calls to evacuate certain neighborhoods.
The strikes, which stopped on Tuesday, resumed the day after the departure of American envoy Amos Hochstein, who is trying to secure a ceasefire agreement between Israel and pro-Iranian Hezbollah. After Beirut, he was due to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday.
Hezbollah, for its part, announced Thursday that it had launched missiles at an air base near the city of Ashdod, “150 km from the border” Israeli-Lebanese. This is the first time that Hezbollah has announced that it is targeting an objective so far from the border in more than a year of clashes. The pro-Iranian group also claimed responsibility for shooting against northern Israel, where emergency services announced that a man had died after being injured following projectile fire in the Galilee.
