The coroner’s report surrounding the death of Eduardo Malpica, who disappeared in Trois-Rivières on November 26, 2022, whose body was found in Quebec on May 31, 2023, has been published. The suicide theory is ruled out, but several questions remain unanswered.
Coroner Luc Malouin concludes that Eduardo Malpica’s death was an accidental drowning, but the report published Wednesday does not elucidate the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the Trois-Rivières resident.
Mr. Malpica’s death would have occurred on November 26, since a witness told the police that he had spoken to him at dinner time that day in a park located in the port area of Trois-Rivières.
The coroner’s report states that in light of the autopsy report, no pre-existing traumatic or anatomical injury that may explain or contribute to the death
was not found on the body.
The pathologist would not have found any clues the intervention of a third person
.
The coroner’s report, however, indicates that the autopsy was severely limited
due to the state of the body, which was found in Beauport Bay, in Quebec, in a state of advanced rot
.
The condition of the body also prevented to obtain a valid result regarding the presence of ethanol in the analyzed samples
. The presence of drugs in Mr. Malpica’s system was also not revealed by the autopsy, but the coroner indicates that these results must be interpreted with caution
.
The autopsy report concluded that the most likely cause of death was drowning with prolonged stay in water. The coroner’s report concludes that he fell accidentally in the St. Lawrence River
possibly near Trois-Rivières.

The coroner indicates that in light of Mr. Malpica’s medical file, the theory of suicide is ruled out. The latter was not depressed or suicidal and there is nothing in his medical history which could suggest a voluntary action.
