Saturday November 9, around 6:30 a.m., gendarmes discovered smoke coming from a HLM apartment located near the port of Tréboul, in Douarnenez. A 44-year-old man was discovered in the street at the foot of the building, shirtless, barefoot, wearing bloody jeans. He died shortly after help arrived. The autopsy revealed that he had been the victim of around fifteen stab wounds. He was unable to speak before his death but managed to escape from the burning home. The second victim, discovered, was difficult to identify due to the fire. The autopsy revealed that this 61-year-old disabled man had been stabbed to death.

The result was that a couple had spent the evening preceding the events with the two victims.
