Macabre discovery in Basècles: an octogenarian couple had been dead for several months

Neighbors had also noticed that their car was parked in the parking lot of the sports hall located very close to their home and had not moved for several months. A lack of maintenance of the house was also noted.

This Wednesday, around 5 p.m., the police intervened in the home and made the macabre discovery. The two lifeless bodies of the lady (born in 1938) and the man (born in 1942) were found. The first findings of the forensic doctor who visited the scene confirm that the deaths date back several months. “The preferred thesis is that of natural deaths, adds the parquet. However, autopsies are planned for this Thursday, and an investigating judge has been referred to a possible homicide case.”

It also appears that the couple did not live alone in this home. He was hosting a niece, and the latter still lived in the house, with the bodies of the two people. At first, she would not have wanted to allow access to the police, before submitting to them. She was taken care of by the police.

How did we get to such a family tragedy? The floor evokes Diogenes syndrome, characterized by a behavioral disorder leading to neglected or even unsanitary living conditions, and which includes, but is not limited to, an extreme form of compulsive accumulation and syllogomania.
