“Bodies arrive in tatters”… Dozens dead and missing in strikes on Gaza

The toll of the Israeli strikes carried out on the night of November 20 to 21 on the Gaza Strip is extremely heavy. According to Civil Defense, 22 people were first killed in a strike on a house in Sheikh Radwan, a neighborhood in Gaza City. A little later, another Israeli strike disfigured the area of Beit Lahia and Jabalia (north). The explosion left dozens dead and missing, according to medical sources. “Bodies arrive at the hospital in tatters,” assures Hossam Abou Safiyeh, director of the Kamal Adwa establishment, near which the strike took place. According to him, the health system is “on the ground in northern Gaza”.

Strikes which coincide with the issuance of arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court (ICC) this Thursday against Benjamin Netanyahu, the former Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, but also Mohammed Deif. The head of Hamas’ armed wing, considered one of the masterminds of the October 7, 2023 attack, was reportedly killed by the Israelis. The three men are wanted for “crimes against humanity” and “war crimes”.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar immediately accused the ICC of having “lost all legitimacy” with its arrest warrants, which he deemed “absurd”. The United States, Israel’s ally, on Wednesday blocked the UN Security Council from calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, despite international calls for an end to the conflict.
