So maybe it was disrespectful, but it’s hip hop, so it’s part of hip hop. I haven’t chosen any side because I don’t have an individual cause. It’s a grown man confronting a grown man. But what it did was unite the West and make everyone here look at each other, like there was a lot of love that we had for each other. The Bloods had a peace treaty. Some gangs of Crips got together and became, you know, real friends instead of enemies. So this record did a lot for us in the West as far as unification goes, so we should talk about it.

Before Jay-Z came into the picture, no hip-hop artist had this chance. It creates opportunities for artists like Kendrick Lamar to perform on the biggest music stage in the world (…) If you are a great artist, your time will come. Don’t dwell on the disappointment, just be honored that hip-hop can shine on this platform.

This is not the first time that
Snoop Dogg talks about this choice. A few weeks ago, he said:
