On the occasion of the Mayors and Local Authorities Show, ADEME and GRDF formalized the creation of a collective bringing together around thirty territories involved in the development of renewable gases.
Launched jointly by the Ecological Transition Agency (ADEME) and GRDF, this new network aims to promote the production, distribution and local use of renewable gases through the development of “concrete and pragmatic solutions”. Each member will benefit from individualized support as well as sharing of expertise within the collective.
The creation of the collective was made official this Tuesday, November 20 during the Mayors and Local Authorities Show in Paris.
Biomethane, at the heart of climate issues
Biomethane plays a key role in achieving carbon neutrality set by France by 2050. According to ADEME, the acceleration of these projects is essential to progress on the decarbonization objectives set for 2035.
« Sharing good practices and mobilizing committed stakeholders are essential to achieving territorial decarbonization objectives. », underlines David Marchal, Executive Director of Expertise and Programs at ADEME.
Collective mobilization for sustainable territories
By supporting local stakeholders and sharing pragmatic solutions, this collective aims to become a major lever for the energy transition.
« This initiative will make it possible to advance concrete solutions for the production and consumption of renewable gas for the benefit not only of its members but also of all local stakeholders involved. » underlined Rançois-Xavier Olivieri, secretary general of GRDF.
A key player in gas, GRDF is convinced of the economic and ecological advantages of NGV (Natural Vehicle Gas) and in particular of its 100% renewable version, bioNGV.
