Get your signs! In the wake of the national call for mobilization, the Quimper collective Nous Tous is organizing, Monday, November 25, in partnership with the city of Quimper and the Collectif trans en Finistère-Sud en mixitéchose (CTFES), a militant march against violence against women. Called “War sav!” », (Let's stand up in Breton), this is the fourth march of this kind organized in Quimper. A flagship event in the fight for the rights of women and minorities, which reminds us that sexist and sexual violence is not limited to large metropolises.
“Some people have the feeling that the fight for the cause of women and minorities has been taken for granted. But in reality, everywhere in the world, it is not moving forward. Even, it is regressing in certain places, laments Denise Maréchal, member of Nous Tous 29. Even in Quimper, the fight is not won: when we question young girls, many of them tell us that they have already been victims of harassment or violence. »
Everyone at their own level, fight against violence
From a logistical point of view, the march will start at 6 p.m. at Place de Résistance, with speeches. The walkers will then go to Place Saint-Corentin where the Kanit'ta choir, from Douarnenez, will sing a song of support with Afghan women, and where the names of the victims of feminicide will be cited. It will then continue its course up to the Plateau de la Déesse, via rue Kéréon. Beforehand, a workshop is organized from 4 p.m. at Kafé Superflux, rue du Cosquer, to make signs. Time will also be taken after the walk, at Kafé Superflux, to exchange views between participants.
“The goal of this type of event is also to make people aware that we can all be involved in the fight against sexist and sexual violence,” explains Denise Maréchal. It's complicated to expect associations to do all the work and to hope that the victims free themselves from the influence… If each of us reacts to the sexist comments and violence that we witness, then we will change society. » She also hopes that the men will be there this Monday. “We see November 25 as a day by women and for women. But we want to remember that everyone has their place in this fight. One day we would like to hand over the reins and have the boys we educate today move things forward… Because ultimately, they too are victims of this patriarchal system. »
