ticket prices soar for the end of the year

The end of year school holidays are fast approaching. They will begin in a month in France. This is an opportunity for many Algerians from France, with children in school, to go to Algeria for a few days and enjoy the end-of-year celebrations with their loved ones.

Given that this is a peak period, coinciding with the end-of-year holidays, flight prices between the two countries are very high, particularly compared to flight prices in low season.

In France, the end-of-year holidays (or Christmas holidays) are set from December 21, 2024 to January 6, 2025. Here is an overall overview of the prices of plane tickets from France to Algeria with Air Algérie , Transavia and Air France.

Prices of plane tickets are soaring from France to Algeria

With the national airline, Air Algérie, round-trip flights from Paris to Algiers for the period from December 20 to early January sometimes exceed €600.

A return flight (December 20 – January 3) between Paris-Orly and Algiers is priced at 699.12 euros, with a baggage allowance of one piece of 23 kg and one suitcase of 10 kg in the cabin. Another flight on the same route (December 28 – January 4) costs 582.99 euros with the same baggage allowance.

On the Marseille – Algiers line, prices with Air Algérie are a little cheaper. A round trip (December 22 – January 4) costs 457.89 euros for a person with the same baggage allowance offered by the company.

Departing from the North of France, the prices offered by the national company are very high to say the least. A Lille – Algiers round trip (December 23 – January 4) costs 755.68 euros. The ticket includes a 23 kg suitcase in the hold and another 10 kg in the cabin.

Transavia: €451 for a Marseille – Algiers flight

With the low-cost Transavia, the prices at the Plus rate, including 20 kg checked baggage and a small piece to slide under the seat, are also very high. A Paris-Orly – Algiers round trip (December 22 – January 3) costs 588 euros at the Plus rate.

A Marseille – Algiers round trip for the same baggage allowance (20 kg in the hold and a small piece in the cabin) is offered on the Transavia website for 451 euros. A Nantes – Algiers flight (December 22 – January 2) is offered for the same price at 621 euros.

With Air France, a Paris-CDG – Algiers round trip, at the Standard fare, including an allowance of 23 kg in the hold and one cabin baggage + an accessory of a total of 12 kg, is priced at 632 .16 euros.

Exorbitant prices at Air France

Departing from Marseille airport to Algiers, the round trip with connection (December 22 – January 4) at the standard rate costs 931.66 euros. On this line, it is better to take Air Algérie or Transavia, which offer much more advantageous prices than Air France.

Departing from the North of France, a round trip with Lille – Algiers connection (December 22 – January 4) at the Standard rate is displayed on the Air France website at 948.16 euros. Here again, the ideal would be to take the direct Air Algérie flight, offered at 755.68 euros.
