When reality catches up with fiction. As part of a special evening dedicated to violence against children, France 2 reveals Reportsa new film directed by Éric Métayer, carried by Cécile Bois, Odile Vuillemin, Marc Citti and Bruno Solo. The star of the series Candice Renoir plays Laurence Brunet-Jambu, a mother whose niece, Karine, reveals to her the mistreatment inflicted on her by her parents, as well as the rapes she suffered at the hands of a friend of theirs, who had for habit of him “to sell” in exchange for alcohol and gifts.
A chilling story, inspired by real events. If Reports could be the story of these children who are victims of violence on a daily basis, it is above all the one that Laurence Brunet-Jambu and her niece Karine experienced, and which they told in a book published in 2019. Victim of beatings, insults and humiliations from her parents, little Karine was raped by a “family friend” staying at their home, between the ages of 5 and 7, 2002 to 2005. When in 2009 she confided her ordeal to her aunt Laurence, she immediately turned to justice, National Education, doctors and social services to file several reports, thirteen in total, and collect her niece at home. In vain.
What happens to Karine today?
While Karine is constantly sent back to her parents, Laurence comes across as “the witch” when she multiplies reports. “I was even forced to sign a letter of apology in which I had to ask the courts for forgiveness for all the problems I had caused!” she confided. In 2016, Karine was finally taken in by her aunt. Today she is a young mother of 27 years old. Her rapist, Roland Blaudy, was sentenced to thirty years in prison in 2018, while his parents were also sentenced to two years of suspended detention for his mother, and three years including six months in prison. against his father. Laurence Brunet-Jambu, for her part, wanted “that magistrates, doctors and all people who do not [l’ont] not listened to” could see Karine, and thus obtained, after a long fight, a conviction from the State for denial of justice.
