On the night of October 31 to November 1, 2024, a fire ravaged the Carrefour Citylocated on the Center Square has Guingamp (Côtes-d'Armor). The exact origin of the fire remained to be determined, although initial analyzes pointed to an electrical short circuit in the refrigeration. Experts confirmed the fire started accidentally.

Expert meeting

This Tuesday, November 19, a meeting was held bringing together experts appointed by Carrefour region, by Dany Courant, the manager of Carrefour City and by Guingamp Habitat.

“Experts are moving towards a departure [de feu] accidental in the store,” reports Philippe Le Goff, mayor of Guingamp and president of Guingamp Habitat. The insurance companies seem to agree on a “rapid restoration of the premises.”

The mayor of Guingamp reports that insurance companies “must recover all the data within a fortnight, then commit to the work.”

Resumption of work for Guingamp Habitat

The rapid intervention of 60 firefighters made it possible to avoid a dangerous spread. And after the expert meeting, the work of Guingamp Habitat, part of the site of which is located just above the store ravaged by the fire, “will be able to resume without interruption.”
