Attempted murders in Izards: 8 to 16 years in prison for the main accused

In a context where “drug trafficking” concerns the highest levels of the State, how were the jurors of the Haute-Garonne Assize Court going to judge six accused? Children of the Izards involved in an attempt to settle scores where, even if neither the victims nor the accused clearly mentioned it, drug trafficking was taking place.

This Wednesday evening, after nearly 7 hours of deliberation, the two women and four men who made up the jury, with the three magistrates of the court, delivered a guilty verdict with heavy prison sentences but far from the requisitions of the general counsel, acquitting defendants on certain charges.

Defense satisfaction

Abdelkader Hassaini, 25 years old next week, the only one who admitted during the debates his direct involvement in the shooting, is sentenced to 16 years of criminal imprisonment. Heavy sentence but far from the 22 years required Tuesday by the prosecution and great satisfaction for his defenders, Mes Alexandre Martin and Edouard Martial.

During her indictment, Virginie Audebert surprised by presenting Florian T as the second shooter. He will still have to serve 12 years of criminal imprisonment, for which lawyer Emmanuelle Franck, obviously satisfied, was able to explain to the jurors the weight of the neighborhood in his path as a delinquent.

Designated leader acquitted of attempted murder

There remains the last cousin, Aymen Hassaini, 25 years old, belatedly indicted four years after the shooting. He defended his innocence, rejecting any involvement in this story. The prosecution had requested 18 years in prison against the man who was described as an interested organizer and giver of orders. Me Edouard Martial, inspired and combative in his pleading this Wednesday morning, convinced the jurors of what he described for eight days as “a police tale”.

Aymen was acquitted of attempted murder but sentenced to 8 years in prison for criminal conspiracy. A sentence similar to that handed down by the Toulouse criminal court for the shootings in November 2018 at a pizzeria in the neighborhood, stronghold of the opposing clan.

The last two accused, who provided service but were not directly involved in the crime, are sentenced to suspended prison sentences: 5 years including 4 suspended for Bastien, defended by Mr. Serge Capel and prosecuted for having kept a weapon; 3 years including 30 months suspended for Aline, too in love to be lucid and defended by Me Marie-Ange Alexis.
