Galaxy S25 Ultra: Samsung would exceed the price of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the iPhone 16 Pro Max

Higher manufacturing cost for the Galaxy S25 Ultra

According to a recent statement from a Chinese informant, relayed this November 20 by GSMArena, this future premium model would cost “at least” $110 more to produce than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

We are specifically talking about the price of the product nomenclature (Bill of Materials – BoM), or in this specific case, all the components and materials necessary for the manufacture of the phone.

As a bonus, the source specifies that manufacturers always aim to make more profits, “which means that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be more expensive to cover this cost difference in many regions of the world”, concludes GSMArena.

China, however, would not be affected by this price increase, mainly because of increased competition with other Chinese manufacturers. The objective for Samsung would thus be to reduce its margins in order to continue to attract consumers in this market.

A more expensive selling price than for the iPhone 16 Pro Max?

All of this obviously remains at the stage of rumors, and no other informant has yet corroborated this possibility. If it turns out to be correct, this price increase would still put Samsung in a fairly unprecedented position compared to Apple, with a higher entry ticket than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The Apple firm has in fact not touched its prices compared to its previous generation: €1,479, or €10 more than the starting price of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The passing on of manufacturing costs to the selling price of the Galaxy S25 Ultra would thus raise its price above the latest Apple primium model.

This situation would still have fairly limited consequences, given that Samsung traditionally offers attractive launch offers, and that its smartphones drop in price much more quickly than the iPhone Pro.

The other option for Samsung

Another possibility may also be on the horizon: the absorption of the increase in the cost of the nomenclature produced by Samsung. Although this will reduce the manufacturer’s profits, it would allow it to maintain an attractive price for the Galaxy S25 Ultra against the iPhone 16 Pro Max and other high-end smartphone manufacturers.

Ross Young recently highlighted that Samsung would keep the M13 generation OLED screen of the Galaxy S24 Ultra on the Galaxy S25 Ultra to save money. The company would thus leave the M14 panels to the Pixel 9 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro.

The good news in the story is that the questions surrounding the price of this future Samsung model should be quickly clarified. Indeed, Galaxy Unpacked making the Galaxy S25 official is expected in January 2025.
