The Ukrainian leader spoke in an interview with the American channel Fox News.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky estimated Tuesday, November 19 that Ukraine would lose against Russia if the United States stopped helping the country, while kyiv and its European allies fear American disengagement under the future presidency of Donald Trump.
“If they cut (the aid), I think we will lose. Of course we will stay, we will fight […] but I think it is not enough to survive,” the Ukrainian leader said in an interview with the American channel Fox News.
Add fuel to the fire
This declaration follows the authorization given on Sunday, November 17, by American President Joe Biden in Kyiv, to use weapons provided by the United States with the aim of striking deep into Russian territory. And Ukraine was quick to comply.
According to the Ukrainian press, Kyiv carried out its first strike in Russia with long-range ATACMS missiles, on the night of Monday November 18 to Tuesday November 19. The target is believed to be a warehouse where ammunition was stored near the town of Karachev in the Bryansk region.
Furthermore, a senior American official told AFP this Wednesday, November 20, that the United States will provide Ukraine with “non-persistent antipersonnel mines” (equipped with a self-destruct device or self-deactivation) to strengthen its defenses against the Russian invasion.
The Kremlin, for its part, accuses Washington of wanting to “prolong the war” by strengthening its arms deliveries to kyiv.
