A 15-year-old teenager gets behind the wheel and hits a mother and her two daughters in Saint-Étienne

Three pedestrians were hit by a car on Sunday November 17 in Saint-Étienne (Loire). The driver, aged 15, had sneakily borrowed his father’s car but lost control. The three women were hospitalized and the minor was taken into police custody.

A 15-year-old teenager was arrested and taken into custody on Sunday November 17, 2024 in Saint-Étienne (Loire), for causing a serious traffic accident. At the start of the afternoon, he mowed down three pedestrians in the Cotonne district while he was behind the wheel of a car despite his young age, reports Progress . He explained to the police that he had stolen the keys to his father’s vehicle.

Two of the victims most seriously injured

After losing control, the young driver hit a 72-year-old woman and her two daughters aged 44 and 51. The two oldest were seriously injured and transferred by emergency services to the Saint-Priest-en-Jarez hospital. The forty-year-old was taken care of by the Loire private hospital in Saint-Étienne.

Even if the lives of the three women are not in danger, “we remain awaiting medical treatment for the victims”specifies News Saint-Étienne Aurélien Buffart, deputy prosecutor at the Saint-Etienne court. The family will be heard later by investigators. For his part, the minor will be summoned by the courts in the coming weeks.
