Jean Beausejour did not let go of a criticism formulated by Arturo Vidal against former players who are now sports commentators.
Arturo Vidal spoke to the press after Chile’s 4-2 win over Venezuela in World Cup qualifying, targeting some former teammates who now work as commentators, saying they shouldn’t be so hard on young players.
“They know, I hope they won’t be so harsh; they were here. Obviously, when the results are not favorable, we have to take it, and it’s the young people who suffer the most. Those who were here could give more advice and not attack as much because the young players are suffering. The national team is not Brazil or Argentina. Here we have to fight for that, otherwise we will not qualify,” Vidal told ESPN.
“I hope that one day the guys will go to Pinto Durán to give advice because the young people need coaching. We are waiting for them; I hope to continue with the national team and I want to see the players who have won titles and who have gone through difficult times advise the younger ones, because it helps them grow faster,” added the former Juventus player.

According to AS Chile, the “King” was referring to Mauricio Pinilla and Jean Beausejour, the latter reacting to Vidal’s comments, recalling the criticism Vidal had leveled at him during Ricardo Gareca’s tenure when he was not retained, even questioning in question young players.
“I feel challenged, but I like to separate the roles. As far as I am concerned, I have nothing to do with Pinto Durán; I am in a different position. I assume this position with professionalism, a lot of respect, and understanding that at one point, I was a footballer. That’s why I was never drastic or definitive in my judgments. If there is someone who was drastic, definitive, and who has. crossed the limit of lack of respect recently, it is Arturo. This attitude does not suit me in any way,” said the graduate of the Universidad Católica.
