Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised $5 million and protection to anyone who frees one of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
“Anyone who brings us a hostage will find with us a safe way for them and their family to get out” of Gaza declared Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, November 19. The Israeli Prime Minister also promised a reward of $5 million for each hostage released.
Benjamin Netanyahu made the announcement in a video shot from the shore of the Gaza Strip, in the Netzarim corridor. This buffer zone set up by the Israeli army cuts off the north of the Gaza Strip from the rest of the small Palestinian territory.
With his back to the Mediterranean, the Israeli Prime Minister appeared wearing a military helmet and equipped with a bulletproof vest. “Anyone who dares to harm our hostages is considered dead. We will chase you and we will catch you,” he said.
Finding “the living and the dead”
Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, this is the fourth time that Israeli government services have broadcast videos filmed inside the Gaza Strip. Until then, however, the images had never been filmed so far inside Palestinian territory.
One of Israel’s goals is that “Hamas does not rule in Gaza.” “We are also making efforts to locate the hostages and bring them back. We are not giving up on it. We will continue to do this until we have found them all: the living and the dead,” insisted Benjamin Netanyahu.
On October 7, 2023, 251 people were kidnapped by Hamas on Israeli soil. 97 remain hostages in Gaza, including 34 declared dead by the army.
