Reducing our waste, whatever it may be, is one of the pillars of the AGEC law (Anti-Waste for a Circular Economy) applied since January 1, 2024. And, there are certain wastes that we do not think about, because we just don’t use the original product. This is the case with the fire hose, used exclusively, of course, by firefighters! And, it is obviously from a firefighter and his wife that Firebelt comes to us, a company that gives a second life to fire hoses. Surprising? Yes, but above all intelligent, because these fire hoses are renewed frequently for obvious safety reasons, and rarely or not recycled. Émilie and Mathias Fouchadour, They decided to transform them. Discovery.
Firebelt recycles discarded fire hoses
You may have never touched a fire hose, but know that these tools are made from extremely durable materials like rubber and canvas. Extreme conditions certainly don’t scare them! However, they do not last forever and are quickly replaced for safety reasons.
Sold at auction, they don’t really find any other uses! And, yet, they have enormous potential. This is where Firebelt comes in: by collecting these nozzles from fire stations, the company cuts them, cleans them and assembles them to make belts. Yes, you read correctly: belts, and not just for firefighters!
Unique and durable belts
For my part, I really like the idea of wearing an accessory that has probably already saved lives or helped protect property. In addition, with their original design, you are guaranteed not to find the same range from your neighbor! By choosing a Firebelt belt, you are investing for years, because the raw material is so solid, almost “puncture-proof”! Furthermore, each piece is unique, because the lances show signs of weardifferent colors and textures depending on their use and age. The fire hose belts are great, but personally, what I prefer is their pencil holder, made with the hose connector! You can find it on the Firebelt website for €15! I think it will soon adorn my desk, I really like the style of this pot!
An invention that comes to us from Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Émilie and Mathias Fouchadour live in New Aquitaine, and buy back at auction, fire hoses rescue centers in Lot and Aveyron to manufacture their Fahrenheit or Celsius, sold from €29 to €35 per unit. It’s apparently a success, as stocks are running out quickly. If you also want your belt, don’t wait to go to the official website: firebelt.fr. I find this idea really original to move a little further towards “zero waste”, and I wish them great success!
If there are a few firefighters in your entourage, generally people who are passionate about their job, it’s a safe bet that this gift could really please them! SO ?
