This Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Pierre Palmade is called before the Melun court to appear following the accident he caused in February 2023. At the wheel of a car, under the influence of narcotics, the comedian will hit an oncoming vehicle and seriously injure three people.
A pregnant woman will lose her child, the driver will suffer numerous fractures and his son, in the back, will be hit in the head.
A case which aroused strong reactions and which highlighted the already known drug consumption of Pierre Palmade. On the eve of the comedian's trial, Damien Delseny, the head of the police-justice service of Parisiananswered questions from its readers.
Will Pierre Palmade be sentenced to prison?
One of them then asked if it was possible for Pierre Palmade to escape prison. A completely possible scenario:
“Unfortunately, there are such serious accidents every day in France involving drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol and seriously injured victims. The one involving Pierre Palmade actually experienced much more media coverage”he begins by indicating.
If this trial is eagerly awaited by the French, “if we look at the case law it is unlikely that Pierre Palmade will be incarcerated. And this even if the court sentences him to prison… less than a year and without a committal warrant, the sentence can be served 'outside the walls', under an electronic bracelet for example. But the court is free. And the risk of a stay in prison for a few months does exist”he wants to point out.
The comedian should be present in court from the first day of his trial
Still according to our colleagues, Pierre Palmade should be present at his trial which is due to begin in a few hours: “According to the latest information, yes he will be present. It is in his interest to face the court and the victims who should also be in the room”, specifies the section head of the
Parisian.
“There has also been no request for referral made so far. But until the last moment everything can change, for health reasons for example”.
