Paolo Guerrero expresses his strong complaint against the referee after the Peru vs Argentina match: “We can’t touch Messi”

Paolo Guerrero spoke after the match between Peru and Argentina held at La Bombonera, where he shared his analysis on the performance of the Peruvian national team. He acknowledged that they needed to be more aggressive with the ball, but he also made a harsh criticism of the referee, saying that fouls were called when players touched the Argentine team, but the reverse was not not true.

Following the match, Guerrero responded to the media expressing a direct complaint regarding the officiating. “It’s a bit difficult to play against Argentina; every touch was a foul for the referee, but when we were hit, no foul was called. They’re a bit tough, but you know how it goes ,” he said.

In a second interview, the ‘Predator’, Paolo Guerrero, reiterated his complaint, emphasizing that no Argentine player, including Lionel Messi, could be touched without a foul being called against the entire Peruvian team. “We were hit and no foul was called. You touch Messi with a finger and a foul is called against all of us. It makes things a little difficult because it conditions you,” he added.

Guerrero also acknowledged that the Peruvian national team needed to be more reckless with the ball. “I think we didn’t dare enough as well. I think we could have played a little more, thrown more. I think in this game we weren’t overwhelmed. Going away empty-handed hurts a lot,” he commented after the Peru vs Argentina match in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
