MONTREAL — The Sûreté du Québec says two more people have been charged in connection with the murder of a cryptocurrency influencer.
The remains of Kevin Mirshahi were found in a north Montreal park last month, nearly four months after he and three others were kidnapped from his Old Montreal condo building on June 21.
The other three people – two women and a man – were found alive a day later, but Mr Mirshahi, 25, was nowhere to be found.
On Tuesday, police said Darius Perry, 27, of Châteauguay, in Montérégie, and Nackael Hickey, 26, of Montreal, were to appear in court in Valleyfield, also in Montérégie, on charges including forcible confinement and complicity to murder. afterwards.
On August 22, Joanie Lepage, 32, of Les Cèdres, still in Montérégie, was charged with first degree murder, as well as forcible confinement and complicity to murder after the fact.
Kevin Mirshahi was the subject of an investigation by the Autorité des marchés financiers, Quebec's financial regulator, which in 2021 requested an order against him, two other people and a company, prohibiting any activity or transaction covered by the provincial Securities Act.
The subsequent ruling by an administrative court included “prohibition on engaging in any activity as a broker or investment advisor,” including promotion on social media in connection with a specific cryptocurrency.
According to the decision, Mr. Mirshahi owned and operated a private, paid Telegram group called “Crypto Paradise Island.”
