The police pronounced the victim dead on November 5 after the resident called for help. The latter was arrested a week later.
A man was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention after the discovery at his home in Aulnoye-Aymeries (North) of the body of his companion, the Valenciennes public prosecutor's office announced this Tuesday, November 19.
The police noted the death of this 30-year-old man on November 5 after the local resident called for help, the prosecution said in a press release, confirming information from La Voix du Nord.
The first investigations carried out by investigators from the urban security service of the Maubeuge police station led “to conclude that the death was the result of the intervention of a third party”, added the prosecution.
The suspect denies the facts
The man, at whose home the body was discovered, was then taken into police custody on November 12.
He declared “to have had an intimate relationship with the victim for several months” and contested “any act of violence against his person, evoking suicide or an accident which could have led to death”.
At the end of police custody, “the alleged perpetrator, who has no criminal record”, was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention.
A judicial investigation was opened on the charge of “voluntary homicide by a spouse, common-law partner, or partner bound by a civil pact”, specified the prosecution.
