Aggressive peaks, enormous flower boxes, rocks, sharp grilles, cities continue to equip themselves with systems hostile to the homeless in 2024. These measures reinforce a policy of exclusion, which the Abbé Pierre Foundation continues to denounce during the third edition of his Pics d'Or, at the Théâtre de l'Atelier in Paris.
This alarming observation is denounced by the Foundation, which recalls some tragic figures: 330,000 people currently live without a home in France, including more than 2,000 children, a figure which has more than doubled in ten years.
Guillaume Meurice, who awarded the “Bouge de là” prize for anti-precarious workers, reacts to the fact that certain design offices are responsible for manufacturing these devices. “It goes so far in human perversion that we have no other choice but to laugh”underlines the comedian.
For Christophe Robert, director of the Abbé Pierre Foundation, this ceremony calls for contesting this negation of the right to the city, of the right to a hospitable city. “The real fight to wage is the one that will put an end to poverty and exclusion”specifies the general delegate. Through this ironic and committed event, the Foundation highlights this reality which seeks to push the situation of the most vulnerable ever further away.
The Pics d'Or, which had already been organized in 2019 and 2020, aim to denounce urban policies, whether deliberate or not, which prevent homeless people from sitting or lying down in public spaces . They also point out the anti-begging, anti-gleaning orders, and other measures hostile to those in precarious situations. “As if excluding them at all costs was the solution to their annoying presence”the foundation is alarmed.
During this ceremony, marked by the presence of many committed comedians, the Foundation awarded prizes in several categories where inhumanity and the absurd coexist, highlighting the absurdity of certain situations faced by homeless people.
Alongside those who struggle!
The social emergency is Humanity’s priority every day.
- By exposing employer violence.
- By showing what those who work and those who aspire to do experience.
- By giving keys to understanding and tools to employees to defend themselves against ultraliberal policies that degrade their quality of life.
