the young readers of have a voice

Young Talençais asking for good reading will be granted. The first meetings for the “literary prize for 9-12 year olds” will take place this Wednesday, November 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Castagnera media library and Saturday, November 23 at 11 a.m. in the Thouars media library, at the Dôme. These meetings will make it possible to launch the project with the presentation of the six novels selected by the librarians. Then, other meetings will allow young people to meet and discuss their readings.

Interested children can freely participate in this prize and borrow the novels from one of the town's media libraries (Castagnera, Thouars or Biblio-Poste du square Fehlmann). From March to May, a ballot box and ballots will be available to allow everyone to vote for their favorite novel.

Middle and high schools

The older ones are not forgotten. The hotel high schools of Gascogne, Victor-Louis and Alfred-Kastler as well as the Victor-Louis, Saint-Genès and Henri-Brisson colleges organize, with the media libraries, the college and high school prize, which offers to introduce high school students or third graders a selection of five comics and novels.

As for 9-12 year olds, books can be borrowed from the town's media libraries until March. The selection can be found on their portal (portail.mediatheques..fr). The objective is to encourage reading for pleasure and to propose topics conducive to debate. Detective novels, fantasy, historical, life stories or societal novels, the chosen works address a wide variety of genres and themes. On the comics side, particular attention was paid to the graphics and the storyline.

Participating students will have to argue and vote within their establishments. They will also be able to meet an author from the selection halfway through the course.

Please note, the awards ceremony will take place in April 2025 at the Castagnera media library.
