As a depression approaches the British Isles causing significant amounts of rain, Météo-France has placed two departments in central France on yellow alert for “rain-flooding” for the day of Wednesday, November 20 .
As we slowly approach meteorological winter, which begins on December 1, turbulent weather and overcast skies are expected. This is, in particular, caused by the passage of a depression dug over the British Isles. As a result, France will be affected, from this Tuesday, November 19, by torrential rains and violent winds.
Although the situation should calm down in the north of the country this Wednesday, it should remain agitated in two central departments, which Météo-France has placed on yellow alert for “rain-flood”. These are the departments of Creuse and Corrèze.
Snow expected this Wednesday
In addition to the rain, Wednesday will be marked by the presence of very cold air at altitude. Therefore, snowfall is expected in the massifs. A reason which pushed Météo-France to place Haute-Savoie, Savoie as well as Isère on yellow alert for snow.
Due to this “cold snap”, “it will snow in the Pyrenees above 1500 to 1800 m, but much lower on the eastern relief, between 300 m and 600 m from the Vosges to the northern Alps, under showers. A little sleet, or even melting snow, may be observed on the Normandy hills,” explained Météo-France.
